Moment Factory, the Canadian studio behind the hit Light Cycles, returns to Adelaide with a bold new immersive offering where light, technology, and sound combine forming a truly sensational experience.
Since 2021, co-founders Rachel Azzopardi and Lee Cumberlidge have enlivened the winter season through their city-wide event Illuminate Adelaide, and the world premiere of Resonate was absolutely electrifying.
The enchanting night trail began at the gates of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, bathed in light as it is during the festival season that locals endearingly refer to as ‘Mad March’. As you wait to enter, you are greeted with the event’s name manifesting through an alluring sign writ large, signaling the beguiling encounter ahead.
Spectacular light displays can be expected throughout Resonate, accompanied by enthralling music, reminiscent of a Cirque du Soleil production. An array of captivating installations invites individuals to wend their way through the serene gardens.
Resonate invites the viewer to saunter through one of Adelaide’s natural wonders and to introspectively return home to oneself.
Each station bathes the listener in tranquil soundscapes while a calming voice-over recites profundities on beginnings, transformations, belonging, wintering, and memories – to name but a few. It is a transcendent and meditative journey with one resonant phrase being “your heart is a compass”.
