Matthew Eberhart, whose superhero identity is Banana Man, will be hosting a free event for families at Moseley Square Glenelg on Sunday 14 February 2021 at 5.00 pm. Eberhart invites audience members to “come dressed as bananas, bring bananas, or just go bananas” while he performs his acclaimed live show Around the World with Mozart the Banana Man.

Eberhart conceived the show as a response to the present international travel restrictions and aims to bring the world to you.
“I want to share my gathered experiences and teach kids about geography, accessibility to the wider world, and to treat people who might look differently with curiosity rather than animosity.”
– Matthew eberhart, banana man
He has been spreading his message of positivity for four years with a mission to “make people happy and make the world a better place.”
Eberhart originates from the United States but is grateful to be in Australia and have the opportunity to take part in the Adelaide Fringe for the third year in a row.
He feels overwhelmed by the community support he’s experienced and it’s made him feel like he belongs in Adelaide. He wants to pay it forward by sharing his talents on the stage, having been a regular on the busking circuit.
“It’s time for me to give back to the Adelaide community and do a legitimate Fringe show!”
After gaining media attention at the Adelaide Fringe in 2020 for being attacked with his own ukulele, Eberhart has composed himself to return to what he does best; music. Banana Man’s shows are a unique blend of pre-written and improvised songs involving the audience to inspire “ad-lib lyrics” on a whim.
If you have no romantic plans during Valentines Day eve, or if you’re just curious about what a singing man in a banana costume looks like, head to Moseley Square, Glenelg and go bananas.
Fun fact: he has seventeen banana costumes in his wardrobe.
