Happy Piano Day: the Solitude Sessions

On the 88th day of every year, Piano Day takes place. I felt it was a fitting time to launch my Solitude Sessions on the blog. Considering world events and the current need to stay at home, I’ve set myself the goal of learning to sing and play new songs and build my repertoire.

‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’ | performed by Jennifer Trijo

Today, I’m performing a song by Joe Sample and Will Jennings. This arrangement is from Moulin Rouge. I’ve recently watched Baz Luhrmann’s Red Curtain Trilogy again and there is a lot to love about Craig Armstrong’s arrangements.

I felt that this song was lyrically appropriate to my current emotional state. Sadly, it will be some time before anyone gets to set foot in a theatre, and a tune from a movie musical seemed like a good place to start.

So here are my Solitude Sessions. Feel free to request songs in the comments or connect with me on social media. I’ll be happy to learn new music.

If you wish to learn new skills such as singing, keyboard, and music theory then fill out the contact form here. I have an online studio set up so if you have a stable internet connection, you can learn from the comfort of your home. Stay safe. Stay enriched.

*update 8 April* The official YouTube playlist I’ve created since uploading more videos to the Solitude Sessions can be found here.
