Further to my Booked and Blessed blog entry on 25 October 2019, here are more exciting 2020 announcements. I will be performing in the Adelaide Fringe this year and, in order to give as many artists media coverage and reviews as possible, I have hired more writers for my publication. I will be introducing my fabulous new team later this month.
I’ve spent a lot of time working in the orchestra pit or behind a keyboard for shows in the past twelve months, but I’m back to tread the boards during the Adelaide Fringe’s diamond year. I will also be conducting (and playing keyboards) for three musicals, and teaching singing in the Bachelor of Music Theatre course. Needless to say, 2020 is set to be an epic music theatre year!

The first project that I will be a part of in March 2020 is an original Australian musical called The Hipster. I will be on stage singing and playfully embodying the character of Candy. Our preview performance on 10 December was a sold-out success and I’m excited to perform it again in the Adelaide Fringe.
Creator Tamara Linke, whom I recently featured in the Bravo section of my publication, has written an original book and songs that cleverly shine a light on the hilarity of stereotypes in Australian culture. I feel honoured to be part of the development of new work by an Australian creator and work alongside a talented cast and creative team.

As I announced in October last year, I will be musically-directing Priscilla Queen of the Desert the musical for MBM. We’ve held auditions in early December and our production has been cast. While I was minding my business, and wrapping up the Mamma Mia! production, I got a call from a colleague asking me to step in as musical director for Adelaide Theatre Academy’s production of Peter Pan.

I absolutely love this story and the Peter Pan score is wonderful so, despite already being booked in March, I agreed to be musical director. Rehearsals for the cast of Peter Pan will begin on Monday 13 January. I look forward to meeting the cast and working with the Creative Team for the Adelaide Theatre Academy’s production of Peter Pan during Adelaide Fringe 2020.
The digital guide is live on the Adelaide Fringe website. The print guide will be available from Saturday 4 January. You can find the events I’m in involved in here: The Hipster (performer), Peter Pan (musical director), and the return season of A Thousand Cranes (composer).
Right now- I am seeing Come From Away and Frozen. Blumenthal’s 19/20 season has been one of their strongest
