I am living and working in Queensland throughout July, if you follow me on social media you’ll know why. I went exploring after work yesterday and ended up at Mt Tinbeerwah Lookout. I created this to express my gratitude for that moment.
Notice
the wanderer in me
needed to explore
tranquil territory
I had never seen before
boulders marked the entrance
to the mountain top
majestic views were endless
life’s chaos seemed to stop
names carved in the rock face,
immortals turned to stone,
nature’s textured sculptures,
a spider wasn’t home
the summit boasted lakes and sea
and hills in silhouette
I walked into the wild
to recentre and reflect
an orange fungus sat alone
beside the man-made pavement
its solitude much like my own
its beauty understated
“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
