Threshold

“Which form of proverb do you prefer: Better late than never, or better never than late?” – Lewis Carroll

“There comes a pause, for human strength will not endure to dance without cessation; and everyone must reach the point at length of absolute prostration.” – Lewis Carroll

12 months’ leave from my Music Teacher position

Today marks the end of the teachers’ calendar for MC 2017. It is also the day that I press the pause button on my teaching career and immerse myself wholeheartedly in art and creativity.

Although there are many unknowns as I cross this pivotal threshold, I know that I can look back on my time at MC with many great memories of friendship, humour, personal growth, and rapport with incredible people.

I’ve learned so much through the teaching experiences that I will hold dear.

Thank you to my Mercedes family. I will miss you much and this is bittersweet for me.

I have always followed my intuitive heart and it is pointing towards the horizon, where beyond that there are trails I haven’t walked, destinations untapped, and many stories to be told.

I want to write those stories, I want to write the songs which chronicle the souls who are forever searching for meaning. I want to meet new faces and exchange anecdotes.

I want to turn my alarm off and live by the pace of my heartbeat, ebbing and flowing through this existence, free to create and explore at whim.

I will do all of this because this life is precious and I want to work out the best way of living it.

We are more than our names, our titles, our possessions. There is a primitive hunger in us that can only be satiated through a deeper connection and honesty with ourselves.

That integrity sets us free from the bonds and social constructs that can lead to confinement and complacency.

It is difficult to understand the heart and motivations of someone who loves art for its own sake, but it doesn’t need to be understood, it just needs to exist.

So here’s to the bohemian way of living. I am completely open to the universe and I hope that anyone who needs my skill set feels open-minded enough to create with me.
